Just in case you didn't know, Packt have decided to set the cost of *all* their e-books to only $5 for the whole of christmas. Thats a pretty sweet deal if you ask me

I have just bought this book with discount €4.38

I am also planning to write a book about Gideros / Lua development but for Spanish speakers, because my English is good but not enough to write a fully book without mistakes.

I've bought this book and looked through the table of contents and found out that book oriented for developers who has no experience working with other languages and frameworks. Most part of content from this book can be found in offical API reference.

It's doesn't encompass so important subjects as improving application performance: how to find memory leaks? How to organize your code in right way to avoid memory leaks?. How to debug application, create own plugins, work with network, meshes etc.

Also I found at least one mistake (or may be I'm wrong?). On page 16 method setAnchorPoint is mentioned, but as far as I know this method is not a part Gideros API, it's a part of a GiderosCodingEasy library (at least Gideros 2013.09.1 doesn't have this method).

But I continue reading and hope to find somthing new and interesting for me.

@romka true, as this was the first book about Gideros, it firstly was a mini book format, secondly is beginner oriented, what you want is quite advanced stuff. But I'm glad you are eager to know more about advanced stuff.

There are some other points from project settings management points or guidelines that you might find interesting, but again that all depends on your experience.

About setAnchorPoint, then it exists on Bitmaps even in official Gideros release

I agree with romka, I miss some advanced features as plugin development, github or bickbucket source repository, export to Android and iOS, joints, external tools, in-App integration.

A book for beginners then.

It's a book for beginners and imho a very good introduction to event driven programming games on phones. You have to accept the odd typo here and there as this is only the first revision of the book. Merry Christmas btw.

The book taught me coding tips and improvements, im very happy with the level of content for this version, as i am still learning this language.

In a way finding typos in the code is a good thing, as it made you look for a fix on your own, eg a dot not a semicolon. its like when your taught a language and they give you the entire program and say ok find whats wrong, its a good way to learn. so win-win.

Maybe the next could add more for advanced users.... then we would have to buy that version too

What the publisher should do is to contact people like you, ask you the right questions to understand what kind of book would be really helpful to you, keep you engaged (and thank you with some extras), and have a database of content requests to make products that help people achieve whatever they want to achieve.
