iOS gamekit:loadPlayers() crash

I'm testing my leaderboards and I get intermittent crashes after the gamekit:loadPlayers() call happens.
gamekit:loadPlayers( {self.top_player_id, self.local_player_id} )
gamekit:addEventListener("loadPlayersComplete", self.onGameCenterLoadPlayersComplete, self )
Prints after this function come through, but it never makes it to onGameCenterLoadPlayersComplete. Did anyone see this behaviour before? Seems to be something outside LUA.
