Can remove an object in Tiled map?

For example, there is a rock in the tiled map and the hero contact it, and I want the rock disappear from the screen

Is there a method to change the visiblitly of the object in the tiled map? Thanks a lot.

You can use Tilemap:clearTile(x,y).

you are suppose to pass the tile number in x direction and y direction and not the x and y position or point the easiest way to do so is divide x and y position with tile width and height and use math.floor

however I can't get the x and y position of the tile, and how can I get the tilemap instance of the tile ? please help

Albert, how do you get the object to determine if it is a rock?

The reason I ask is that if you can use the Tilemap to determine if the tile is a rock then surely you can just clear the tile you just interrogated.

i can bet Tilemap is nil and he has found rock from the physics collision just guessing

ohhh there are multiple layers i assume we always know from which layer we need to remove the tile

put this function in tiled_map

at the end of the init hold all your maps reference like

self.myMap = tilemap --store all maps like this

function TiledMap:clearTileAt(x,y) self.myMap:clearTile(x,y) --assuming self.myMap is the correct one from which you need to remove end

and from main file call this function after calculating the tile number

also you shoud have to call function like this


myMap:clearTileAt(math.ceil(event.x/32),math.ceil(event.y/32))
where 32 is width and height of my tile

my mistake floor gives little different value

the next problem is ....the tiled map is moving, and I can't get the event.x and event.y right. Maybe I should store the x and y in the object's body?

well you are able to find out rock [ i assume rock is made from tiles] than you should have to use the x and y position of that rock

in my example i had copied and pasted code from my test project where i am removing tile on the touch event

@albert988, @hgvyas, a couple of suggestions

1. Have an offset this is to take care of two issues, one as albert mentioned of moving tilemaps and the other if the tiles are not full screen, i.e. could have some space from the top of the left, the offsetX and offsetY can be used to cater for that.

have you noticed that

TileMap:clearTile(x, y)

starts from:

TileMap:clearTile(2, 1)

not from

TileMap:clearTile(1, 1)

how should be but under Gideros Player on Android and as a standalone exported APK? Under Windows Gideros Player seems that we have good values (1,1) [EDIT: I've recently thought that there is also buggy]
Anyway there are different values on real device and under Windows...
Tested on Gideros Mobile SDK 2012.09.10.
