New version: Gideros Studio 2012.09.5

Hi all,

We've released a new version, 2012.09.5: http://www.giderosmobile.com/download

It's fixes a bug occurs on 2012.09.3 and 2012.09.4. If you've submitted a game with these previous versions, please install this current version and resubmit again.

How often does the bug happen? Just submitted new version all of the markets today
But have been testing new levels etc and never experienced that bug.

Eh, probably will have to waste whole tomorrow on resubmitting again.

If you're not loading the same Sound twice, this bug doesn't occur. It was a sneaky bug and passed all my tests before releasing .3 and .4.

Of course I'm NOT doing that. That sounds inefficient

By the way, in other thread you commented that:

How can you actually do that? And which value stands for what? And can the default value be to allow Ipod music to play?

You need to open AppDelegate.m and change the line

[[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory:AVAudioSessionCategorySoloAmbient error:nil];

to

[[AVAudioSession sharedInstance] setCategory:AVAudioSessionCategoryAmbient error:nil];

I think this shouldn't be default because it's not suitable for games which already have a background music.

We'll probably agree to disagree on this, but I rarely listen to the music of the game, mostly put my playlist on and play games, and it get's kind of frustrating if you can't do it with some games.

But look on the other hand, using SoloAmbient prohibits the scenario I've mentioned, but Ambient allows both scenario's. Well, it does not change anything except allowing to play other music in background, does it?

Great! This fix my crash problems.

I did load sound on one variable, and if it change to another rounds, the sound might change but i still use the same var, it might got doubled when i load the rounds before.

In another game engine, they have undocumented API that support to change audio session in lua. It might be a good reason to put it.
But that change is easy enough. Then might not need, lol.

And yeah, some of the information at the API documentation in Help is sometime misleading. Yesterday i tried this

application:openUrl(“mailto:user@foo.com?subject=Test&body=Just a test”)

And it can't, then for a while i realize, 'Hey, a space....' and then i encode them, and it works.
Some of the beginner might become crazy after reading the API docs.

Gideros Player(2012.09.5) on iOS can't play mp3? Or is it just me?

Gideros player does not display fulfill in ipod5. How can I overcome this issue?

Audio doesn't work anymore for me in this version on the device. I just uploaded the new Gideros Player to the device and tried the Audio Example. It works in the simulator.

I'm going to post this here as well in case it gets missed on the thread I posted it on the other day:

Since updating to 09.5 today I keep on having the Mac player crash every few reloads with errors such as a missing TTF or .wav. Thing is they're there, so it's like the player is forgetting about them or removing them when you reload the app in the player (and Gideros only updates changed files when you do this). Re-running the player again and everything works fine, and then a few re-runs later the same thing happens again.

After continuing to use it since first posted the above it definitely seems to happen with TTF more than anything else with the player reporting it can no longer find the font file and crashing.

@atilim, I just double checked and it works on my iPad 3 but not my iPhone 5.

@Magnusviri thanks. I've tested on iPod touch 4th gen and it works. Now I'm upgrading iPhone 4S to iOS 6.0.1 to test on it.

no I would never use IOS or Android as a phone. they are too huge and fragile. I have my tiny Nokia 1616 which I can easily put in my pocket, drop on the floor and even sit on it.

I have an Ipod touch for entertainment, but I can't imagine dragging it around in my pocket. And I really can't understand people who does that

I guess it sounds kind of weird from app developer

This image includes the HP iPaq (WinCE), iPad1 (blk) iPad2 (wht), iPhone3, iPhone4, iPhone5, Blackberry, Windows Phone (HTC) and Samsung, HP TouchPad, Kindle and Samsung Galaxy II.

Need to update and keep the iOS versions in check.

I was looking forward to this one, but it just so happened that it was discontinued.

This is the Microsoft Surface (Gen 1) got to play with it while visiting Microsoft Sydney in early 2011. The 2nd Gen Surface was amazing but what Microsoft is selling as Surface is completely different. While on a side note, also saw the Surface RT, it is not such a bad device after all, but would buy it if it was half the asking price (currently)

Plus the second image is that of the large Screen (back projector) again at Microsoft used for their employees while using kinect (this is running Dance Central)
