Interesting. It would be good to be able to exclude some things like Box2d for example. When I generate an APK file for a blank Gideros project I get a 7,777KB APK file. This is larger by far than the defold APK but it's not too large in my opinion.
For every 6 MB increase to an APK’s size, we see a decrease in the install conversion rate of 1%.

@hgy29 what would the savings be if 32 bit architectures were removed? Could this be optional? My guess is that 64 bit apps would support most devices on iOS, but perhaps not on Android.
@SinisterSoft That sounds interesting. Any idea of how much the file size would be reduced?
@oleg, not very scientific, but looking at the top 10 games in "top chart" in UK, the download size vary from 15-100MB. No games I checked were less than 15MB. Maybe the website (Appbrain Apptimizer?) is a bit cautious.
@totebo it would be reduced by the size of the libs not needed for the processor on that phone - eg on an old phone only 1 set of the arm libs or another just the x86 libs would be needed.

@oleg, that is very true. Many/all of those games have paid for their position by UA. Even so, I'm struggling to find even ONE game weighing less than 15MB, never mind 5MB or under. Can't really explain that.
@SinisterSoft That should have a BIG amount. Interested to see if that is possible with Gideros.
Didn't find figures about 64bit market share except that 64bit was supposed to be predominant starting from last year, so obviously 32bit is not dead yet. This would have saved half size approximately though.

I do write in French in PM to French people in the forum, but I expect most readers here won't bother using google translation or anything and just ignore things they don't understand. Although it became very good over time, and it will continue to improve, google translation is sometimes not accurate enough. I read a paper about their algortihm (neural network based), which explained that to be accurate the algorithm needed a strong base of language to language official translated sentences. It will be good mostly for EN to something and something to EN, but not for more direct translations.
IMHO its better to try explain things in english with your own english vocabulary than relying on automated inaccurate translation.
I am only giving advices though, I have no personal problem with native language posts. Except that I won't bother translating them if I don't understand.
I think Google translate is good enough in many cases, but I agree. If it's written in a language that I don't understand I have two options:
1. Copy and paste, go to Google translate, read it, go back to forum and post a comment. 2. Ignore the post.
I usually opt for the latter, simply because option 1 is a right bother. Until there is a simpler way, I would urge everyone to write in English, to keep posts immediately understandable.
@oleg, if you do care about people understanding your posts then you can also put your sentence in google translate and post the translation only, so then only one person has to do this task instead of everybody else doing it separately. as @hgy29 said non-eng->non-eng translation is not so good even on google translate, so in a way you cannot avoid double-translation anyway.
@keszegh if you care about the people you've got all your messages translated into Chinese, because the Chinese more than English.
but that there was no double translation to write in my own language, the English language has fewer words than my language, thus translating into Ukrainian-> English-> French will be more loss than Ukrainian-> French
@oleg, i doubt that on this forum chinese would be majority. and also i'm sure that everybody on the forum understands english more or less while not chinese, so translating to english is good for everybody while no other language has this feature.
yet i guess i will top commenting about this off-topic question, as you anyway will have the last word (in your chosen language), whatever we say.. : )

(though I agree that it could be awesome to be able to reduce apk size in Gideros)

You provide your signing key to Google and they do all the work their end.
Not sure how to do this on Gideros export. Anyone tried this yet?
