viewing only discussions with unread posts

  New posts are usually marked with yellow text 1 New, etc and ordered to be on top of other topics.
  Additionally there is a link in the top "Mark All Viewed" to mark all topics as viewed so then only new ones will again appear on top

  Yes the yellow marking is helpful for finding the new posts, but I find that I still have to scroll through several screens worth of discussions looking for the ones with the.yellow. I've been on forums with the option to view only discussions with updates since last visit.

  Also I've done a quick search on vanilla forums but couldn't see a solution other than @ar2rsawseen's. Maybe @gorkem can solve this problem.

  yes I get the latest posts on top, just after the anouncements.
  Now I understand how frustrating this must be for you.
  
  But I haven't found any options to change that.

  With the revamp in progress, could we get an option to filter out all and (filter out) display only the unread messages.

  no worries, points for trying. Some older posts get burried deep within and there is no way to check activity on them, hence the suggestion.

  well, every new comment on the post , brings the post to the top and marks with yellow.
