Some dumb questions about html5.
Can a player have a save game? If so does it require them downloading a copy of the whole game or is it saved in there browser history somehow?
How do you make money?
Seriously how do you make money with browser games? I'm guessing ads but also seen people talk about licensing, is that game websites that pay to host your game? How would you go about arranging that? Is there another method and what's up with the ads for the current html5 export, any ad networks working?
Thanks

You usually make money by having adverts or by licensing it to websites that have adverts,

With exclusives, you get a lot more money, BUT it means you need to distribute the game with their branding. So basically, every copy on the web or mobile has to have the sponsors branding.
Non-exclusive licences pay a lot less, but it usually means just removing any links and putting in the sponsors logo, for use on the sponsors website only. Here the sponsors are paying to have a version with their branding, and no distractions.
As for ads - the strategy is to drive as much traffic to your website, where you display ads. In the Flash days you could use Mochiads inside your game, and if the game went viral, you would earn money. These days you have to work harder, but you can still build a great website, with great content, and you will get visitors.
There is also the option of making contract HTML5 games. Many websites want small games for their visitors to play, and will pay you to make them.
Here are a couple of links to start you off ...

I'm interested in putting my game on my site in full, the only thing is I don't know how the saving works. If I upload the exported project to my site how do players save games work, is saved to there local machine?
I know this is probably obvious but never really looked at html games before.
Once you post there (I think 1-5 times) a hidden Sponsors and Portals section shows up in the Business area of the forum. You can get plenty of Sponsors from there. The market for HTML5 sponsored games got pretty hard these days. I did it 2-3 years back and they wanted high quality games. No quick money to be made as some state it would be,
Another tip: Don't buy that guide from the site NinaDoodle linked above. Wasted money!!!
