thanks, this confirms my observation that google play does a really bad job with the visibility of new apps. Used be other way around with iOS for free apps.
Thanks @pie! I want to add it. Synchronous multiplayer is tricky. So far I haven't found a good option; local WiFi could work, but is too limited in terms of where you can play (public WiFi networks, like Starbucks, don't work). Large scale multiplayer over internet solutions are very expensive. What to do?!

@totebo I hope that nextPeer is what you need to do it, however I would go also for local wifi multiplayer if it's something that you can put together.
Multiplayer games are better if you can yell directly at your opponent..;) as I recall, the best multiplayer experiences I have had were in local lan parties with friends, and before broadband, splitting console screens with them.. not against nameless and unknown opponents over the internet.. even if their skills were more challenging than my friends'
There is another reason because I like lan: you can enjoy multiplayer even if there is no longer a "server" online. even if nintendo goes south you can challenge your friends on mario kart ds.. You can do it on your own, where you want to, without the need for an internet connection - which could not always be available.
I also like the "local" multiplayer option. After evaluating the one based on LUA Socket in Gideros I've decided (for the moment at least) it's too limited, because it would often fail on public WiFi. This would be tricky to explain to the players, and for me it would limit the game too much. Would be good with an alternative, more robust, way of doing it, but I haven't come across one. I believe the modern mobile phone players don't find pleasure in configuring TCP/IP LAN connections, even if they were exposed on mobile.
I'm leaving the multiplayer option open though. NextPeer seems a nice option.
