One of the reasons is that SlideME targets a lot more countries compared to Google Play--which is somewhat restricted but getting better. Another great market to get in on in Amazon's AppMarket which seems to be different for each app category.
It's also because of the actual setup on SlideME, Google Play is ONLY for google approved devices.
Where as SlideMe will run on ANY android device, and thus the tons and tons of non-google OEM devices shipping right now--those low cost $80.00 tablets etc ALL come with SlideME installed since they can't get Google Play.
Works out in our favor but those are the reasons I have been able to find out. One of the nice things about SlideME is they actually put your new games on the front page for a while, and the updated games in the Updated Box regardless of category which gives a nice boost in downloads with each update/release.
I use: Google Play SlideME Amazon AppMarket
So far SlideME always gets more downloads, but has almost no tracking to tell if people actually play much or keep it installed like Google Play does.
@SPDApps anytime, it's actually sort of funny, I have been meaning to put together a document for the Gideros community on How/Where to promote your games for Android--since there are a lot of options compared to the iOS being basically only the Apple App Store.
@zvardin they use two twitter accounts to promote the newest apps. It looks to working like a charm: I had 150 downloads at first 24 hours... it's true. But strange that I didn't notice after that any special impact on AdMob's results... (impressions, clicks etc). And after every update I've noticed the same jump on downloads statistics with the same poor result on Admob. It looks like SlideMe's users are ad's proof... )
Just a random thought, but since you have to register for GooglePlay, is it possible they don't show multiple downloads by the same user? So, if I were to download an app on 3 devices with the same account it would show as 1 download, while SlideME might count that as 3 downloads?
@fxone and @zvardin Yes that is what I have been thinking as well, SlideME is just using a counter from what I can tell I don't think they are doing any filtering etc
