Target API level requirements from August 2019

Hi all,

I've just uploaded a new release of our game for Android and noticed that the targetSdkVersion will need to be set to 28 in the future.

Are there any issues with setting targetSdkVersion to 28 now?

I vaguely remember reading something about this on the forum some time ago but I was unable to find it.

@simwhi it does however mean a lot of older devices will not get the new version. When I upgraded all of my games (because of the gogle drive api depreciation) my games now install on about 20% of the devices they used to install onto.

When you add a new version, the old version of the file will not be deactivated - and it will be available to older devices.

@oleg yes but the old versions would not work because if the api they require to function does not exist.. the game just crashes on launch.

on my screenshot in the Google store at the same time 2 version of the file - SDK18 and SDK28



For old devices - the old SDK 18 file will be available in the store

@oleg, yes, the old version will still be in the store but it will crash on launch as the google drive api is not available anymore.
