It may have been said before (or maybe it hasn't been), but the forum is a bit ugly'ish.
I think moving over to phpBB or a similar type of forum would really go a long way into making the forum more approachable and (visually) more appealing.
I know not everyone will agree, but that's just my two cents.

But this type of forum is more QnA style, which is preferred and since enhanced google search, there were no more complaints about the forum yet
Transferring all account and data to new type of forum would take too much resources and we do not deem it necessary while we can live with what we have
