Commenting appears to be turned off for me on the version release thread (which doesn't make it easy to report problems with the release). However, it appears that some users can comment on it as @ar2rsawseen has been able to? Is that right?
I haven't known that commenting is turned off for the "Announcements" category. Now I've turned it on. (I've always wondered why @Mells opens a new discussion when we release a new version )
@atilim he just wants to steal all attention to himself
I was hoping nobody noticed
It's true that I opened those threads because the comments were closed, but now I believe that it's better to keep the noise of discussions separated from the announcements.
There are some things that I believe would improve the announcements :
Display release notes inside the announcement discussion
Provide test files
In my mind, an announcement would be more efficient if it looked somewhat like this : You can even save a little bit of time if you don't format the buttons Hi all,
Now that I'm here, in order to improve the forums ( @ar2rsawseen maybe?) I believe that there are too much stickies on the forum's homepage (too much noise, no visual distinction between stickies and regular discussions) and by default pushing the "Starting a New discussion" should create a new discussion and not a new question.
This would remove the noise from the "Answer"/"Answered" labels, it became hard to find the discussions that need an answer
And I think only @gorkem can make (if he can at all) the discussion by default with option to select a question (not a question by default like it is right now)
