When aligning TextFields precisely I've bumped into a few issues. Aside from font:getAscender(), how feasible would it be to add font:getCapHeight(), font:getMedianHeight() as per image below?

This would allow me to align a text using the cap height, rather than ascender, which is needed to align text for languages such as Swedish. The characters Å, Ä and Ö should be aligned by the top of the A rather than the circle above it.

Just use TextArea.

I remember TextArea, but can it use the cap height, as opposed to ascender? Here is an example of what I'd like to do; align the word to the top of the grey rectangle using the cap height of the font.

Use `sample` parameter for this. TextArea uses it to get offsetY and height so all text will be aligned by highest character in the sample. For your example just use "G" as sample.

Ah, ok. I was thinking of doing something similar (nice one TextArea!). I'm weary about some of the translations in my game, however, such as Chinese where letters are different, and wondered if there was a "safe" way of doing it with the standard font properties.
