I would like to celebrate all Giderans, and future gideran's new year. I hope new year will bring health, creativity to all of you. It has been tough times for the world with all those crisis were flying around us. Wish new year will be better for of us.
any reason is a good reason. i'm also happy with what happened with gideros during 2021, thanks for all maintainers, especially @hgy29 , @rrraptor (imgui) and @SinisterSoft . so let's start 2022 and see what it will bring.
btw, I think that Gideros 2022.1 will be a great release and a good start to 2022...

@keszegh, you should be able to work with zbs and luau as long as you don't use debugging features. I never use them myself actually, I debug with the 'print' method...

i do. they are great (e.g., watch and line-to-line debugging)
Maybe that once the author of zbs knows about Luau in Gideros then it may be possible to add similar debug features - apparently Luau has better debug features than Lua.
btw, I too just use print (every so often) for debug, using a full debugger can bog you down and (for me) leads to slower development.

@keszegh, Gideros 2022.1 will be Luau based I am afraid, if I manage to build it on all platforms and bring back functionnality they removed in such a way that previous Gideros project would run on it without changes, or with only minor changes.
I am concerned about debugging though, but I am afraid about tweaking Luau too much to get it back. Yet I see the switch to Luau as the future for Gideros for various reasons, one of them being that our lua 5.1 is getting old feature wise. Luau takes features from lua 5.1,5.2,5.3 and 5.4, and is overall a good synthesis of what is important in the language. I hope to be able to bring back debugging in Gideros Studio first (probably not in 2022.1 though), and maybe to add back hooks needed by zbs or finding another way. Meanwhile, if you want to stick to 2021 version for a bit more time, I can try to compile a more recent imgui binary that would work in 2021.11. Tell me which platforms you are interested in.
@hgy29 , thanks, that luau switch comes faster than i expected. for platforms, i need windows (qt), mac and android, in this order of preference, android is less important. overall i will try to live with luau and start to complain (or not) based on my experience.
@keszegh I have tried it out and only needed to do some very minor edits. Here are the differences we have spotted that will need slight alterations - but other than that everything works fine.

Most people used the macros for constants, but I think that Luau has better constant support - I'm guessing that it can automatically detect which variables are constants?
