I'm not sure I understand the code well enough to write an article. I only understood it enough to do some simple things.
In the end, I was using the regex to parse a json object but I found LunaJson which does it for me. So I ended up using that. …
So...I was right with having to add the X amount of the screen to the touch.x. I just had to add it to the setTarget as well as in the jointDef. Both places are required. Here is the fix:
-- create a mouse joint on mouse down
Odd observation: it seems that the mouse joint target is correct for the X while the Y is the problem. Pulling the grabber correctly moves left and right but not up and down.
Here is the code for moving the level (if it's needed). The level is just…
Had to change:
if self.grabber_display:hitTestPoint(event.x, event.y) then
local jointDef = b2.createMouseJointDef(self.ground, self.grabber_body, event.x, event.y, 100000)
self.mouseJoint = world:createJoint(jointDef)
But that worked! Thanks!
Good idea! The threads worked although I have one thing.
The lua compiler takes a file to compile. Are you suggesting auto-saving every few seconds (after key presses stop) then parsing the file? I'd most likely just write a current_file.lua each …
Oh. Nvm. I've got it now.
Setting the IP is telling the bridge the IP of the Gideros Player (I think) so you set the IP to the player IP and port.
isconnected tells if the bridge is connected to the player after setting the IP.
Once I did that,…
I am still not able to launch the player. I've looked at ZeroBrane's way and have tried the way described here. This is what I'm doing:
gdrbridge.exe setip 127.0.0.1 12345
Launching Gideros Player
gdrbridge.exe play [my project full path and name w…
Thanks. I tried that (on windows now) using:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Gideros\Tools>gdrbridge play C:\Users\spenl\Documents\my_project.gproj
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 15011 *
* daemon started successfully *
But nothing happene…
I've tried ZeroBrane but I work on a mac and it doesn't launch the player properly about 80% of the time for some reason.
I wanted to create an IDE so I could see how to make one along with being able to add stuff that I like. ZeroBrane has auto-co…
Thank you all. I didn't realize I could add children to the scene which would make them handled by the scene manager. Seems like I would have figured that out since the scene is just a sprite class. Thanks!
Wow, that was a fast response! When starting with Gideros I wasn't sure how the forums would be but so far you guys have been great!
I did what you said and everything worked great! Thanks for such a quick response!
Thanks everyone! I've been just writing in VSCode and ZeroBrane and running in Gideros Studio. I'll try running the player on my MAC without Gideros Studio running soon.
Been doing debugging mainly by printing which is really crude but I haven't g…
